Celebrate the Nation Capital’s Best Brews

The nation’s capital is such a vivacious place to live for people who love being sociable, exploring the city, and celebrating the diversity of a city filled with history and culture everyday. This week, D.C. celebrates the good brews offered all over the city with beer specials and special events.

Sept. 24 begins DC Beer Week and ends on Oct. 1 with special events such as beer tastings, food pairing classes, Q&A’s and more throughout the week. Here are some of the events happening in D.C. in some of the best neighborhoods near our properties here at Keener Management:

Monday
The Ryes of DC Willett barrel aging collaboration series is coming to D.C. again. Jack Rose Dining Saloon will be releasing three more collaborations from Port City, Denizens, and Atlas Brew works alongside the original unaged beer and whiskey to pair. Glen’s Garden Market in Dupont Circle is teaming up with Evolution Craft Brewing to teach attendees how to cook with beer. Learn how to make beer-based caramel and prepare three beer-based recipes for two people, including Evolution beer pairings. You can look forward to dinner-beer pairings such as Bourbon Migration Black Bean Chili with Bourbon Migration Dark Strong Ale. Click here for more information about this event.

Tuesday
The Port City Brewing Company is partnering with The Heurich House Museum for a night of classic regional cuisine, live music, historical attractions, fresh Port City Beer and some limited releases of new Port City beers. The Heurich House Museum is located right in Dupont Circle and just a short walk away from some of our luxurious properties. Churchkey in Logan Circle is hosting Bell’s Brewery 31st anniversary, where Bell’s will feature no less than 31 different beers from Kalamazoo, MI. Partake in a few delicious rare beers from Boon Companion, such as an experimental beer brewed with lemon verbana and Sorachi Ace hops. Wednesday
The Second Annual DC Beer Royale will have a competition between six D.C. breweries: 3 Stars, Atlas, Bluejacket, DC Brau, Hellbender, Right Proper on Wednesday in Adams Morgan. Each brewery represents a charity and whichever brewery’s keg is finished first, takes the door donations home to their charity. Click here to read more about this event.

Thursday
In Dupont Circle at Glen’s Garden Market, Atlas Brew Works will have beer tastings along with vegan pork rinds by Snacklins, one of the 63 small food businesses that got its start at the market. Click here for more information.

Friday
Churchkey will host the Ballast Point 20th Anniversary Party where they will toast to this milestone with 25 different drafts and casks from this San Diego, Ca. brewery. Read more about this event here.

Saturday
Join Glen’s and City Bikes for their fourth annual bikes-to-the-breweries tour from Adams Morgan to Dupont Circle. First, participants will meet at City Bikes in Adams Morgan for a guided trip to Hellbender Brewing Company, then to Atlas Brew Works, and finish at Glen’s in Dupont Circle for a 30 percent discount on local growler fills as a reward for exercising while taking an interest in some of D.C.’s best breweries.
